A message from CPSA Registrar Dr. Colleen Forestier
This past fall, after 35 years in medicine, Dr. Scott McLeod retired from his eight-year-long role as CPSA’s Registrar & CEO. I am honoured to carry this important work forward, officially stepping into the role in September 2025.
Since embarking on my journey with CPSA, I’ve been consistently impressed by this organization’s commitment to regulatory improvement and meaningful innovation. This commitment is reflected in important milestones, including the continued growth in the number of registered physicians and physician assistants, the successful streamlining of the registration process and strengthened collaboration across departments. CPSA continues to evolve its regulatory approach to ensure Albertans receive safe, high-quality health care.
Over the past year, provincial and national health care has undergone rapid change, bringing growth, opportunity and, at times, uncertainty. I want to acknowledge the impact this has had on both our regulated members and the public they serve.
CPSA is committed to thoughtful profession-led regulation that supports high-quality healthcare for all Albertans. As I continue to settle into this role, I look forward to listening to, learning from and working alongside our regulated members, partners and the public as we navigate an ever-evolving healthcare environment.
Sincerely,
Dr. Colleen Forestier
