A message from the 2025 regulated members of CPSA Council

As the elected regulated members of Council, we ensure that all policy development and decision-making is done with the public interest at the forefront. As physicians ourselves, we have the opportunity to apply our diverse training, experiences and perspectives towards Council’s important work.

In our role, we identify areas for improvement, plan for progress, implement initiatives and review results to ensure the cycle of improvement remains CPSA’s priority. One important focus includes CPSA’s duty to support responsible innovation within the practice of medicine. This past year, CPSA focused on the development of guidance on emerging healthcare initiatives to uphold patient safety and privacy.

As part of our work in ensuring CPSA meets its regulatory obligations to protect the public, we continue to recognize evidence and data indicating that differences in health outcomes and patient experiences exist across the healthcare system. CPSA’s Indigenous Advisory Circle and Anti-Racism Anti-Discrimination Committee contributed important perspectives that helped inform evidence-based guidance grounded in competence, ethical care and the best interests of patients.

We would like to express our gratitude to our fellow councillors and regulated members. Your commitment to medicine and high-quality care for your patients is essential and does not go unnoticed.

If you are able, we encourage you to consider engaging with CPSA in any way you can. Whether it be running for Council or sharing your feedback, every contribution makes a major impact.

Finally, we would like to take a moment to thank Albertans for your engagement and feedback over the year that has helped CPSA adapt and evolve, improving medical regulation in our province for years to come.

Sincerely,

The 20245 regulated members of CPSA Council
